Ingredients: 10 rolls* 300 g flour 12.5 g fresh yeast ** 1 tablespoon of sugar to dissolve the yeast and sugar for sprinkling on the rolls 1 teaspoon of salt 100 ml milk juice from 2 medium oranges (110 ml) grated zest from 2 oranges 1 egg 25 g melted butter + about 1 teaspoon of melted butter for greasing the rolls * which became 12 because I poorly divided the dough

To prepare a delicious dough-based recipe, we will follow a few essential steps that will ensure us a proper final result. We start by preparing all the necessary ingredients, so we have everything we need at hand. We will use flour, warm water, fresh yeast, sugar, salt, and butter. It is important that all the ingredients are at room temperature to achieve a uniform and well-risen dough.

The first step is to mix all the ingredients. In a large bowl, we put the sifted flour, add the yeast dissolved in warm water, sugar, and salt. We mix well so that there are no lumps. Then, we start kneading the dough with our hands, being careful to gradually add the melted butter. The dough should be soft and elastic, so do not hesitate to add a little more water or flour if necessary. It is essential to knead well for about 10-15 minutes to activate the gluten.

After obtaining a homogeneous dough, we cover it with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place, away from drafts, for about an hour. The dough will double in volume, and this will ensure us a fluffy and airy texture. Once the rising time has expired, we prepare to divide the dough into equal portions. With a knife or spatula, we cut the dough into 10 pieces, each having similar sizes. We form balls from each piece, making sure to shape them well so that they do not come apart during rising.

We place the dough balls on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between them to allow for rising. We cover the tray again with a towel and let them rise until they double in volume, about 30-40 minutes. At this stage, we can prepare for baking. We preheat the oven to 170-180 °C.

Once the dough balls have risen, we brush them with melted butter, which will add a delicious flavor and a golden crust. We sprinkle sugar on top, which will create a sweet and appetizing crust. We bake at the set temperature for 15-20 minutes, but it is important to watch the baking process, as each oven may vary. Once the dough is nicely browned, we take the tray out of the oven and let them cool slightly before enjoying. These dough balls can be served warm, alongside a cup of tea or coffee, making them perfect for a snack between meals or a flavorful dessert.
