Packages with Cheese and Dill
To prepare a delicious and savory snack, we start by organizing our ingredients and preparing everything needed to create these wonderful cheese and dill pies. It is essential to ensure that the dough, whether store-bought or homemade, is well chilled to facilitate handling. If necessary, cut the dough into pieces of the desired size, keeping in mind that we want to achieve uniform and appealing pies.
Once the dough is ready, we turn our attention to the cheese filling. The total amount of cheese should be divided into nine equal parts. We take each piece of dough and, in the center of each portion, add a serving of grated cheese, which can be cottage cheese, feta, or any other preferred type. Over the cheese, we sprinkle finely chopped fresh dill leaves to add an extra touch of flavor and freshness to the filling.
After placing the filling, we take another piece of dough of the same size and place it on top. Then, we use a fork to press the edges of the two pieces of dough well, ensuring that the filling will not leak during baking. This step not only helps keep the filling inside but also adds a nice appearance to the pies.
To achieve a golden and appetizing crust, we beat an egg in a small bowl with a fork. Using a pastry brush, we brush the beaten egg over the surface of each pie, which will give them a shiny and attractive look. If desired, we can repeat this operation, applying a second layer of beaten egg.
Additionally, for an intensified flavor, we sprinkle extra grated cheese and/or chopped dill on top, which will add both taste and a decorative aspect. After we finish preparing all the pies, we line a large baking tray with parchment paper, ensuring that they do not stick during baking.
The oven is preheated to 200 degrees Celsius, and when it is ready, we place the tray with the pies inside. We bake for about 20 minutes, or until the pies turn golden and crispy. The baking time may vary depending on the type of oven, so it is good to keep an eye on them. Once baked, we take them out of the oven and let them cool slightly before enjoying them. These cheese and dill pies are perfect for serving as an appetizer or snack, being delicious both warm and cold.
