Crocodile
Ingredients: 1 long cucumber, 1 egg, 1/2 egg cut into triangles, 4-5 green olives, slices of black olives, 2 corn kernels, 1 sprig of dill, 1-2 slices of ham / other cold cuts, baguette, 2-3 radishes.
To prepare an original and amusing appetizer that is sure to impress guests, we can create a crocodile from a cucumber and bread. We start by taking a fresh cucumber, preferably a longer and thinner one, which allows for the formation of the spiral. Using a special tool, we cut the cucumber in such a way as to obtain a spiraled shape, being careful to leave one end uncut, which will become the 'tail' of our crocodile. This technique will not only add an attractive look to the dish but will also enhance the texture and taste of the cucumber.
Next, we turn our attention to a fresh baguette, which we will cut diagonally at the ends to give it a more interesting shape. From the inside of the baguette, using a knife or a spoon, we carefully scoop out the crumb to create a space where we will fix the cucumber. This will become the base on which we will build the crocodile.
We attach the ends of the cucumber to the bread, ensuring that it has a stable position. Between the spirals of the crocodile's body, we can add thin slices of radishes, which will not only add a slightly spicy taste but will also provide a pleasant color contrast. We continue by preparing the head of the crocodile, where we will place two slices of olives, which will represent the eyes. To add a touch of cheerfulness, we use corn kernels to create the pupils, thus giving it a playful look.
For the crocodile's hair, we cut a sprig of dill and place it on top of the head, bringing an extra freshness and a touch of green. Next to the crocodile, we prepare a delicious combination of ham, cutting 1-3 slices into a crescent shape. In the middle of each crescent, we place a boiled egg, which we carefully cut to look presentable. This egg will be surrounded by green olives, adding not only a savory taste but also a touch of elegance to this appetizer.
