Pear Jam in the Crock Pot
Ingredients: (2 pcs.) Williams pears – 6 pcs Fresh lemon – 150 ml Gelatin sugar – 3 heaping tablespoons (the amount varies depending on how sweet you prefer) Gellfix – ¼ packet Cinnamon sticks – 2 pcs Star anise – 2 pcs Cloves – 5-6 pcs
To prepare a delicious pear jam, start by peeling the pears, making sure to remove the seeds as well. It is ideal to choose ripe but firm pears to achieve a pleasant texture in the jam. Cut the pears into suitable cubes so they cook evenly, and place them in a large bowl. Add fresh lemon juice over the pears, which will not only provide a pleasant taste but also prevent the fruits from oxidizing, keeping their beautiful color.
Sprinkle the gelling sugar over the pears and mix well so that all the pear cubes are evenly coated. This step is essential because the gelling sugar helps thicken the jam and preserve the fruit flavors. After mixing, transfer the mixture to a 4.7-liter Crock Pot, an ideal appliance for making jams without requiring constant supervision.
Next, add a few sticks of cinnamon, star anise, and cloves. These spices will give an intense fragrance and comforting flavor to your jam, turning it into a true delight. Stir again to ensure all ingredients are well integrated. Place the lid on the Crock Pot and set the timer for 2 hours on the 'high' setting.
With 10 minutes left before cooking is finished, add the gellfix. This will help achieve the perfect consistency, and mixing well will ensure its even distribution in the mixture. Once the program is complete, I recommend pouring the pear mixture into sterilized jars, making sure not to put the lid on immediately. This will allow excess steam to escape and prevent condensation formation, which could affect the texture of the jam.
Let the jars cool to room temperature, then transfer them to the refrigerator. In a few hours, you will have wonderful pear jam ready to be enjoyed. It is perfect for spreading on a slice of toast, alongside a warm tea, or even used as a filling for cakes. Enjoy your meal!
