Ingredients: (4 servings) Apples – 4 pieces Cinnamon sticks – 4 pieces Ground cinnamon – 2 teaspoons Butter – 100 g Raisins – 100 g Vanilla pod – 1 piece Cognac or cherry – 100 ml Brown sugar – 4 tablespoons Cardamom pods – 3-4 pieces Allspice berries – 3-4 pieces Water – 50 ml Caramel or vanilla ice cream – 4 scoops Vanilla topping – 4 tablespoons
To prepare this delicious stuffed apple recipe, we will start by gathering the necessary ingredients and utensils. We need 4 large apples, preferably varieties like Golden Delicious or Granny Smith, which pair excellently with the sweet and aromatic filling. A sharp knife will be essential for hollowing out the apples without damaging their shape, so make sure you have one handy.
The first step is to hollow out the apples, leaving about 1 cm intact at the base to keep the filling inside. Using the knife, carefully remove the core and seeds, taking care not to damage the skin. Once the apples are prepared, we will place them in the 6 L Crock Pot, which will allow for even and slow cooking.
Next, add enough water to the Crock Pot to cover the bottom of the pot. Then, add cardamom pods and allspice berries, which will provide an irresistible aroma to the dish. Insert a small cinnamon stick into each apple to enhance the flavors. Now, it's time to fill the apples with raisins, which will soak up the flavors from the pot during cooking.
To add a touch of sweetness, sprinkle a tablespoon of brown sugar on each apple, followed by a little ground cinnamon. These ingredients will caramelize and transform the apples into an irresistible delicacy. Add a cube of butter on top of each apple, which will melt and enrich the flavor of the dish.
Drizzle with a little cognac or cherry, which will add a sophisticated note. Split the vanilla pod and add the seeds to the cooking pot to infuse its sweet and warm aroma. Set the Crock Pot to the “Saute” function for 2 hours and 30 minutes, selecting the “high” temperature.
After the cooking time has elapsed, check if the apples have softened but remained whole. Carefully serve them on a plate, adding a few spoonfuls of the delicious sauce they left behind, along with a generous portion of vanilla or caramel ice cream for a perfect contrast of temperatures and textures. Finish with a vanilla topping, which will add an extra touch of elegance to the dish. Enjoy your meal!
