Baked Trout with Lemon
Ingredients: For 2 people: 2 trout, 1 lemon, 2 liters of olive oil, salt, pepper, dried or fresh basil
The baked trout recipe is an excellent choice for a healthy meal, full of flavor and easy to prepare. We start by ensuring that the gutted trout is fresh. We wash it well under a stream of cold water, removing any impurities, then we dry it with a paper towel to prepare it for seasoning. This step is essential to ensure that the flavors will penetrate well into the meat.
On a piece of aluminum foil, we spread a drizzle of olive oil, then sprinkle salt and pepper to taste. These basic ingredients will help enhance the flavor of the fish, giving it a delicious touch. We place the trout on the aluminum foil, making sure to position it belly up. We begin to season it with salt and pepper both on the outside and inside, where we will add 3-4 thin slices of lemon. The acidity from the lemons will make the fish meat juicier and more flavorful.
To enrich the aroma, we add a few fresh basil leaves or rosemary, if available. These herbs will turn our dish into a special delicacy. If we do not have fresh herbs, dried basil is a good alternative, still providing a pleasant note. After adding all the ingredients, we tightly wrap the aluminum foil around the fish, but leave a small space for steam to circulate and penetrate the meat.
After preparing the trout, we place it in a baking tray and put it in the preheated oven at 200 degrees Celsius. The cooking time will vary depending on the size of the fish, but generally, 10-15 minutes are sufficient. After this interval, we carefully unwrap the foil, being cautious not to burn ourselves, and let the trout brown for 5-10 minutes. This step will give the fish a nice crust, adding texture and an appetizing appearance.
When ready, we take the tray out of the oven and let the dish rest for a few minutes before serving. The trout can be enjoyed alongside a side of steamed vegetables or a fresh salad, thus completing a healthy and delicious meal. Enjoy your meal!
