Apple Tart with Almond Flakes

To prepare a delicious apple treat, we start by peeling the apples and slicing them thinly, making sure to remove the core. It is important to immediately sprinkle the slices with lemon juice to prevent oxidation, which could affect both the appearance and the final taste of the dish. We arrange the apple slices evenly in an oven-safe dish that we have previously greased with butter and dusted with powdered sugar, so as to achieve a delicious and slightly caramelized crust.
In another container, we will dissolve the granulated sugar in warm milk, ensuring that the mixture becomes homogeneous. After it has cooled, we focus on a larger bowl, where we will beat the eggs as for an omelet. We then add the cinnamon, flower water, and cooled milk, mixing well to obtain a uniform composition. Now, we can add the bread cubes (without peeling them) into the milk sauce, letting them soak for about 10 minutes. This step is essential to allow the bread to absorb the liquid and contribute to the final texture of the dish.
Once the bread has soaked, we will incorporate the raisins and chopped nuts, gently mixing to distribute them evenly. Then, we pour this mixture over the apples arranged in the dish, making sure that each apple slice is well covered. We still need to pour the remaining unabsorbed sauce over the entire dish, and for an extra touch of flavor and a crunchy texture, we sprinkle almond flakes on top.
Now it is time to preheat the oven to a suitable temperature. We place the dish with our preparation in the oven and bake for about 40-50 minutes. It is important to monitor the baking process to ensure that all the liquid is absorbed and that a golden, appetizing crust has formed on top. Finally, the dish cannot be turned out or removed from the pan, so we will serve it portioned, directly from the dish, either warm or cold. It can be enjoyed plain or with a spoonful of sour cream or yogurt, as preferred, to add a creamy and refreshing note. This recipe is not only delicious but also a true indulgence for the senses!
