Appetizer Wreath
Ingredients: 200 g flour, 6 eggs, 100 g pitted black olives, 100 g pitted green olives, 400 g ham, kaiser, or any type of cold cuts you have, 150 g sheep cheese, 200 ml milk, 2 slices of pickled bell pepper, 4 tablespoons of oil, 1 packet of baking powder, 100 g cheese, pepper and salt to taste.
To prepare a savory and comforting appetizer, we start by cutting the ham into small cubes, making sure to achieve uniform sizes to ensure an even distribution of flavors in the dish. Next, we take the cheese and grate it using a large-hole grater, so it melts easily during baking and contributes to the fluffy texture of the loaf. The cheese should be crumbled with a fork or, alternatively, we can choose to grate it as well, ensuring we achieve a good consistency for easy mixing with the other ingredients.
In a large bowl, we put the flour, and on top of it, we add the baking powder, mixing well to homogenize the dry ingredients. It is essential to ensure that the baking powder is evenly distributed to avoid lumps in the dough. In another bowl, we whisk the eggs with a whisk until they double in volume and become frothy, which will add extra air and lightness to the mixture. After the eggs are perfectly beaten, we add the milk and crumbled cheese, mixing well.
Over this liquid composition, we add the flour with the baking powder and mix with a spatula, being careful not to form lumps until the flour is completely incorporated. To give it a special flavor, we add the ham cubes, chopped olives, grated cheese, chopped pickled bell pepper, and finally, oil, salt, and pepper to taste. It is important to homogenize the mixture well to ensure that each bite has a balanced mix of flavors.
After achieving a homogeneous composition, we line a loaf pan or any desired shape using either oil and flour or parchment paper to prevent the dough from sticking. We carefully pour the mixture into the pan and level it slightly on top. We preheat the oven to low heat and place the pan inside, allowing the dough to bake until the surface turns golden and passes the toothpick test.
This delicious appetizer can be served warm or at room temperature, making it perfect for a snack, picnic, or party. The flavors blend wonderfully, and the fluffy texture and rich filling will surely impress everyone who enjoys it. Enjoy your meal!
