Christmas Hot Chocolate
Ingredients: For 2 servings: -500 ml coconut milk -120 g grated chocolate (recommended with 70% cocoa) -2 tablespoons cocoa (very good quality) -2 tablespoons muscovado sugar / brown sugar -½ teaspoon ground cinnamon -½ teaspoon vanilla extract For serving -100 ml whipped cream -vanilla powdered sugar, to taste -100 g marshmallows * For decoration: -ground cinnamon, optional -chocolate decorations, optional
To prepare a decadent and comforting hot chocolate, we start by carefully selecting the ingredients. Use white marshmallows that have no added flavors, as they can influence the final taste of the drink. If the marshmallows are in large pieces, cut them into smaller rounds to melt evenly in the hot chocolate. In a separate bowl, begin whipping the cream for the whipped cream. Use an electric mixer to achieve a fluffy and airy consistency. Once the whipped cream starts to form, gradually add the vanilla powdered sugar, adjusting the amount according to personal sweetness preferences. Once the whipped cream is ready, set it aside, covered, to maintain its texture.
In another container, dissolve the cocoa in a little cold coconut milk, mixing well to avoid lumps. This cocoa base will add an intense and rich flavor to the hot chocolate. In a pot, add the rest of the milk, then gradually incorporate the sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, dissolved cocoa, and grated chocolate. Place the pot on low heat and stir with a spatula, ensuring that the ingredients combine perfectly and that the chocolate does not stick to the bottom of the pot. Allow the mixture to heat well, being careful not to let it reach boiling point, as this can affect the texture and taste.
Once the hot chocolate reaches the desired temperature, immediately pour it into pre-warmed glasses or mugs to keep the heat for longer. Decoration is an essential step, so add a generous layer of whipped cream on top of each serving. Gently place the rounds of marshmallows over the whipped cream so that they melt slightly from the heat of the chocolate. Allow a few seconds for the marshmallows to soften, creating a delicate texture and delicious flavor.
For an extra touch of flavor, you can sprinkle a dash of cinnamon or chocolate decorations on top of the marshmallows, adding a touch of elegance to the drink. Serve the hot chocolate while it’s hot, enjoying each sip that brings a comforting sensation on cold days. This hot chocolate is not just a drink, but a culinary experience, perfect for savoring alongside loved ones.
