Apple Cake
Ingredients: Filling - 2 kg apples - lemon juice - 1 cube of butter / 2-3 tablespoons of oil - 2 sachets of vanilla sugar - 1-2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon or to taste - 2-3 tablespoons of sugar or to taste, depending on how sweet the apples are. Base - 1 cup semolina - 1 cup flour - 1 cup powdered milk - 1 cup sugar - 1 pinch of salt. Others - 1 package of butter - powdered sugar for decoration.
To prepare a delicious apple pie, start by putting the butter in the freezer. This will make it easier to grate later, achieving a perfect texture for the crust.
The filling is essential for adding flavor to the pie. Peel the apples and remove the core, then grate them using a large grater. This step is important because the grated apple will release its natural juices, and to prevent oxidation, immediately sprinkle them with lemon juice. After preparing the apples, take a pan and add a little butter or oil. Sauté the apples over medium heat, just enough to soften them slightly, being careful not to reduce too much of the juice left, as this will add moisture and flavor to the pie. After a few minutes, add the vanilla sugar, cinnamon, and sugar, adjusting the amount of sugar according to personal preferences. Mix everything well until the sugar melts and the flavors combine, then let the filling cool slightly.
For the crust, in a large bowl, mix the semolina, flour, powdered milk, sugar, and salt. Make sure the ingredients are well homogenized to achieve an even texture. In a heat-resistant dish, grate half of the butter taken out of the freezer, being careful to distribute it evenly on the bottom of the dish. This will create a rich and flavorful base for the pie.
Cover the butter with half of the semolina mixture, then pour the sautéed apples and level them well. Evenly sprinkle the rest of the powders on top, and finally grate the other half of the butter. This last layer will ensure a golden and crispy crust at the end.
Place the dish in the preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius and bake the pie for about 30-35 minutes. You will know it is ready when the top crust is beautifully golden and the pie has risen. After removing the pie from the oven, let it cool in the heat-resistant dish.
