Baking time: 60 minutes
Total: 90 minutes
Servings: 6

Have you ever thought of a moussaka that combines the best flavors of potato moussaka and eggplant moussaka? Moussaka 2 in 1 is the perfect answer for those moments when you want to impress with a tasty and sophisticated dish. This recipe offers a balance between vegetables and meat, resulting in a hearty and flavorful meal.

Ingredients:
- 700 g boneless beef (you can also use pork for a richer taste)
- 2 eggs
- 4-5 potatoes (choose the firmest ones, like red potatoes)
- 1-2 eggplants (ideally, choose medium-sized eggplants with smooth skin)
- 2 large onions
- 1 carrot (for added sweetness)
- 2 tomatoes (for freshness and acidity)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Oil for frying
- Chopped fresh parsley (about 2 tablespoons)
- For the sauce: 200 g sour cream, 1 egg, milk or water (about 100 ml), grated cheese (optional)
- Ketchup for serving

Preparation Instructions:

1. Preparing the ingredients:
- Start by peeling the onion and slicing it thinly. Heat a pan with a little oil and add the onion, letting it sweat until it becomes translucent. This step will enhance the onion's flavor.
- Once the onion is ready, pass it through a meat grinder along with the peeled and washed carrot. This combination adds sweetness and a pleasant texture to the filling.
- The beef can also be ground in the meat grinder or, for better flavor, you can sauté it a little in oil before mixing it with the vegetables.

2. Preparing the vegetables:
- Peel the potatoes and slice them thinly. Make sure they are uniform for even baking.
- Wash the eggplants and slice them as well. I recommend sprinkling them with salt and letting them sit for 20 minutes to remove bitterness. After that, rinse them and dry them with a towel.

3. Assembling the moussaka:
- In a baking dish, lay a layer of potatoes on the bottom. Continue with half of the meat mixture, then lay a layer of eggplant slices and one of chopped tomatoes. Complete with the remaining meat, followed by another layer of potatoes, which you can lightly brown in a pan with oil for a more intense flavor.

4. Preparing the sauce:
- Beat the egg in a bowl, add the sour cream, milk or water, salt, and pepper. If you want a more intense flavor, you can also add a little grated cheese to this mixture. Pour the sauce evenly over the moussaka, ensuring it covers well.

5. Baking:
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (moderate heat) and place the moussaka in the oven. Let it bake for about 60 minutes or until the potatoes are well cooked and the surface is browned.

6. Serving:
- When the moussaka is ready, let it cool slightly before cutting it into portions. Serve it with ketchup on the side for a perfect contrast of flavors.

Useful tips:
- You can vary the recipe by adding zucchini or bell peppers between layers for extra color and flavor.
- If you want a lighter version, you can replace the beef with ground chicken or a vegetarian option using mushrooms or lentils.
- Don’t forget to check the seasonings at the end and adjust them to your taste.

Moussaka 2 in 1 is not just a tasty dish, but also an excellent way to bring together your favorite ingredients in one meal. Enjoy your meal!
