Milk Buns
To create a delicious baking recipe, we will start by preparing the necessary ingredients. In a large bowl, we combine flour, preferred seeds, baking powder, and salt. These ingredients are mixed well, ensuring that each component is evenly distributed. Once we have a homogeneous mixture, we make a well in the center of the mixture, like a small crater, and add the softened butter, lukewarm milk, and yeast that has been previously dissolved in a little milk. It is important that the milk is not too hot, so as not to destroy the properties of the yeast.
After adding all the ingredients, the magic of kneading begins. We start mixing by hand or with the help of a mixer with special dough hooks until we obtain an elastic and uniform dough. It should be smooth to the touch and not stick to the hands. Once the dough is ready, we cover it with a clean towel and let it rise in a warm place for about 1.5 hours. This is the time when the dough will gain volume and become fluffy.
After it has risen, we divide the dough into 18 equal pieces. It is important to use a sharp knife or a grater to obtain uniform portions. Now comes the creative part: we shape each piece of dough according to our desires. I chose to make braided crescents, knots, and little balls, which I decorated with scissors, thus creating a flower shape. This step not only adds a pleasant appearance but also an interesting texture.
After finishing shaping, we place the crescents on a baking tray lined with parchment paper. We cover everything again with a towel and let them rise for another 20 minutes. This second proofing will make our products even fluffier. Before putting them in the oven, we brush them with a beaten egg to achieve a golden and appetizing crust, and then sprinkle sesame or poppy seeds, depending on preferences.
We preheat the oven to 230 degrees Celsius and, once it reaches the temperature, we place the tray with crescents inside. We bake them for 15 minutes, or until they turn golden and beautifully browned. The aromas will begin to fill the kitchen, and the anticipation will grow as we wait to enjoy them. After taking them out of the oven, we let the crescents cool slightly before savoring them. These delights are perfect for breakfast or as a snack at any time of the day!
