Moussaka with Eggplant and Beef

 Ingredients: -1 large eggplant -1 large zucchini -1-2 hot peppers -1 bell pepper -3-4 tomatoes -300 g minced beef -spices (basil, thyme, white pepper, salt) -corn oil

To prepare a delicious moussaka, I chose to use the star vegetables of the season: eggplants, zucchini, bell peppers, and tomatoes, combined with minced beef. This is an excellent choice, as beef is leaner compared to pork, making the dish healthier and easier to digest. I start by preparing the baking dish, which I grease with a little corn oil to prevent the ingredients from sticking.

The next step involves slicing the eggplants into thin circular slices, which I arrange on the bottom and sides of the dish. These eggplant slices not only add a pleasant taste but also a fine texture. On top of them, I sprinkle a mix of spices, preferring basil and thyme, along with white pepper and salt, to enhance the flavors. Once I have created this first layer of vegetables, I continue with a layer of minced beef, which I spread evenly over the eggplant slices.

After covering the meat with a generous layer of diced bell peppers, I also add a few pieces of hot pepper to give a hint of spiciness. Next comes another layer of zucchini, also cut into circular slices, which adds a fresh and light note to the moussaka. I mix the minced meat with my favorite spices to intensify the flavors.

To avoid wasting any of the used ingredients, I decide to chop the leftover eggplant and zucchini slices into small cubes, which I carefully place over the second layer of minced meat. On top of this mixture, I add a generous layer of tomatoes, sliced, which I drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with fresh basil. Each layer is an opportunity to add spices, so the final taste is rich and complex.

Once I have finished assembling the moussaka, I place it in the preheated oven, where it will bake for about an hour. It is important to check constantly, and when the juice released by the vegetables reduces by half, the moussaka is ready. The aroma that will spread throughout the house will be irresistible, preparing us for a delicious and comforting meal, perfect for any occasion. This moussaka is not just a simple recipe, but a true culinary experience, combining varied tastes and textures, being a feast for the senses.
