Apple Snails

Ingredients: 6-7 large apples, pastry sheets, 4 tablespoons of sugar, 2 packets of vanilla sugar, cinnamon, sunflower oil for greasing the sheets.

To prepare a delicious apple pie, we start by gathering the necessary ingredients. It is important to choose sweet and fragrant apples; varieties like Golden or Granny Smith are excellent for this. We peel the apples, cut them into small cubes, and place them in a pan over medium heat. We add regular sugar and vanilla sugar, stirring constantly to prevent sticking. When the apples begin to release their juice, we will notice how the mixture becomes softer and softer. We let it cook until the liquid evaporates completely, and the apples become tender, with a pleasant texture.

Once we have obtained this apple mixture, we take the pan off the heat and add cinnamon. It is essential to add cinnamon at the end to preserve its unmistakable aroma, while avoiding it becoming bitter. If you want to add extra flavor, now is the time to include nuts or raisins. I personally do not use them, as my family prefers the version without these, but they can add a delicious contrast of textures.

Next, we turn our attention to the pastry sheets. We take a sheet and brush half of it with oil, then sprinkle a little cinnamon to enhance the aroma. We fold the sheet so that the filling is well enclosed, and on the folded edge, we place a portion of the apple mixture. We carefully roll the sheet, forming a tight roll, which we will then shape like a snail. It is important not to leave air inside, to achieve an even texture.

We prepare the baking tray; if it is not silicone, we lightly oil it to prevent sticking. We place the snails on the tray, leaving a little space between them, as they will puff up during baking. We brush each snail with a bit of oil, which will help achieve a golden and crispy crust. We preheat the oven to a temperature of 180-200 degrees Celsius and place the tray inside. We let them bake for 20-25 minutes, closely monitoring the process until the snails become golden brown and appetizing.

Once they are ready, we take them out of the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. This apple pie is perfect both warm and at room temperature, and will surely be a delight for the whole family. Enjoy every bite and savor the enticing aromas of cinnamon and apples!
