Lenten Crumble
To prepare this delicious apple dessert, we start by peeling the apples. We choose fresh apples, preferably a slightly sour variety, which will add a sweet-sour contrast to the dish. After peeling them, we grate the apples, being careful not to leave the skin. They will be gathered in a large bowl. In a pan, we put a bit of margarine to melt and add the grated apples, gently stirring them so that they soften a little. To this, we add a tablespoon or two of sugar, depending on taste, and a teaspoon of cinnamon, which will give flavor to our dessert. We let the apples sauté for a few minutes until they become slightly translucent and release their juice.
Meanwhile, we take care of the floury dough. In a separate bowl, we combine almond flour with regular flour and sugar. It is important to mix these dry ingredients well to ensure they are perfectly homogeneous. After mixing them, we cut the margarine into small cubes and add it to the bowl. Using our fingers, we gently mix the composition, being careful not to knead too much. The result should be a floury mixture with small visible pieces of margarine. This will melt during baking, creating a delicious texture.
Now we prepare the baking tray, greasing it well with margarine to prevent sticking. We place the sautéed apples in an even layer on the bottom of the tray, making sure to cover the entire surface well. Then, we pour the almond flour mixture over the apples, distributing it evenly. It is important that this layer is uniform so that the dessert bakes well and we get a delicious crust.
We preheat the oven to 180-200 degrees Celsius, and when ready, we place the tray in the oven. We bake for about 30 minutes, or until the dough turns golden and crispy. When the dessert is ready, we let it cool slightly before cutting it into portions. It can be served warm, alongside a scoop of vanilla ice cream or with a splash of whipped cream, for an even more pleasant contrast of textures and flavors. This simple yet tasty recipe will surely bring a smile to the faces of loved ones. Enjoy!
