Mayonnaise is a versatile sauce that can be easily made at home, offering a fresh and authentic taste. You will need an egg yolk, a tablespoon of mustard, oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper, as well as your favorite herbs, which can vary from parsley, dill, or chives, depending on personal preferences.

If you choose to make mayonnaise at home, place the egg yolk and mustard in a bowl. Using a whisk or a hand mixer, mix well until the mixture becomes homogeneous. Start adding the oil gradually, drop by drop, continuing to mix constantly. As the emulsification takes place, you can add the oil in a thinner stream. Once you have achieved a creamy texture, add lemon juice and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Once the mayonnaise is ready, move on to the herbs. Wash the chosen herbs well, then chop them very finely to release the aroma and essential oils. The chopped herbs will be added to the already prepared mayonnaise. Gently mix the ingredients to achieve a uniform composition, being careful not to destroy the airy texture of the sauce. After you have homogenized the mayonnaise with herbs, cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the sauce chill. It is recommended to leave it in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes, as this time allows the flavors to blend and develop.
