Meat and Mushroom Tart: The Perfect Recipe for a Family Meal
When it comes to dishes that bring the family together, meat and mushroom tart is definitely a favorite. This recipe, inherited from my dear Diaconta, is full of flavor and warmth, perfect for a cozy dinner. Moreover, it is an excellent way to make use of seasonal ingredients and turn an ordinary meal into a true delicacy.
Preparation Time: 30 minutes
Baking Time: 40 minutes
Total: 1 hour 10 minutes
Number of Servings: 6-8
Ingredients
For the dough:
- 300 g flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 50-60 g melted margarine
- 1 egg
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
For the filling:
- 400-500 g mushrooms (chanterelles are an excellent choice, but you can also use champignon or other types of mushrooms)
- 300-400 g minced beef (or a mix of meats, depending on your preferences)
- 3 triangles of melted cheese
- 3 tablespoons oil
- 3 tablespoons sour cream
- Fresh dill and parsley, chopped
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 egg (for brushing)
- Sesame seeds (optional, for decoration)
Preparing the Dough
1. Melting the Margarine: Start by melting the margarine over low heat or in the microwave. Make sure it doesn’t get hot, just fluid enough to mix with the other ingredients.
2. Mixing the Ingredients: In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. These dry ingredients are essential for achieving a well-structured dough. Make a well in the center of the mixture and add the egg, melted margarine, and sour cream.
3. Kneading the Dough: Use a spatula or your hands to mix the ingredients until you obtain a soft and easy-to-shape dough. Avoid over-kneading, as the dough can become tough. Once homogeneous, wrap it in plastic wrap and refrigerate for about 15 minutes.
Preparing the Filling
1. Sautéing the Onion: In a frying pan, add the oil and sauté the chopped onion over medium heat until it becomes translucent. This will give a rich flavor to your filling.
2. Adding the Meat and Mushrooms: Add the minced meat and chopped mushrooms. Mix well and allow the mixture to cook over low heat, adding a little water if necessary, until all the liquid has evaporated. This step is essential to prevent a too-wet filling.
3. Finalizing the Filling: Once the mixture has cooled, add the melted cheese, sour cream, chopped herbs, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are integrated.
Assembling the Tarts
1. Rolling Out the Dough: Remove the dough from the refrigerator and roll it out with a rolling pin on a floured surface. Use a sheet about 5 mm thick.
2. Placing in the Pan: Place the dough in the tart pan (ungreased) and trim the excess from the edges. It is important that the dough is evenly distributed to bake evenly.
3. Adding the Filling: Place the meat and mushroom filling on the dough in the pan, leveling it with a spatula.
4. Decorating the Tarts: With the remaining dough, cut thin strips to place over the filling, forming a lattice. This step not only enhances the appearance of the tarts but also allows steam to escape during baking.
5. Brushing with Egg: Beat an egg and brush it over the dough, then sprinkle sesame seeds for a crunchy touch.
Baking
Preheat the oven to 180°C and bake the tart for about 40 minutes or until it becomes golden and crispy. The aroma that will spread in the kitchen will make you want to sit at the table immediately.
Serving
The meat and mushroom tart is delicious both warm and cold. You can serve it alongside a fresh green salad or with a yogurt and dill sauce, which will add a refreshing touch. It is a versatile dish that can be enjoyed at any time of the day.
