To prepare delicious fluffy gugulufs, we start by activating the yeast. In a small bowl, we dissolve the yeast with a tablespoon of sugar and a few tablespoons of warm milk, gently mixing to obtain a homogeneous paste. We add a tablespoon of flour from the total amount, mix again, and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 15-20 minutes, until it becomes frothy and doubles in volume.

Meanwhile, in a large bowl, we put the remaining flour, add the risen dough, the two eggs, the remaining milk, sugar, melted and cooled butter, rum essence, honey, finely chopped almonds, raisins, and chocolate chips. We mix the ingredients with a spatula or with our hands until a homogeneous dough forms. It is important to also add salt, which will enhance the flavors and contribute to the development of texture.

After obtaining an elastic dough, we cover it with a clean towel and let it rise for an hour, during which it will puff up nicely. During this time, we can prepare the guguluf molds. I prefer to use silicone molds, as they do not require greasing, but if you use metal molds, make sure to grease them with a little oil to prevent sticking.

Once the dough has risen, we divide it into equal portions and fill the guguluf molds, being careful to leave a little space at the top, as the dough will continue to rise during baking. We preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius and, when ready, place the molds in the oven. We bake the gugulufs for about 30-35 minutes, until they turn golden and spring back slightly when touched.

After baking, let the gugulufs cool in the molds for a few minutes, then carefully remove them and place them on a rack to cool completely. This fluffy and fragrant dessert is perfect for breakfast or as a snack, especially when served alongside blueberry jam or a spoonful of honey. Enjoy their delicious taste and inviting aroma!
