Peach Jam (in the Bread Machine)
Ingredients: 1 and a half cups of peeled, pitted, and crushed fruits using a potato masher or fingers - a cup is 250 ml. 1 cup of white sugar (or a mix of white and brown sugar) 2 tablespoons of yellow raisins Chardonnay wine, to cover the raisins 2-3 cloves 1/4 teaspoon allspice (I used cinnamon) Utensils: bread machine
To prepare a delicious peach jam, the first essential step is to soak the raisins for about 30 minutes, using wine to completely cover them. This stage will help enhance the flavors and achieve a more pleasant texture. Next, we will ensure that the bread machine is ready, with the paddle in the correct position, ready to mix the ingredients.
To obtain a savory jam, we carefully wash and peel the peaches, removing the skin and pits. It is important to choose fresh, fragrant fruits, but if they are not available, frozen peaches, strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries are excellent options. After we have peeled the fruits, we crush them using a potato masher or even with our hands until we achieve a smooth paste. It is essential to drain the excess liquid, especially in the case of frozen fruits, to avoid diluting the jam.
Once we have prepared the crushed peaches, we carefully place them in the bread machine's bowl. On top, we add the soaked raisins, along with the other necessary ingredients, such as sugar and lemon juice, which help preserve the jam and provide a pleasant acidity. After adding all the ingredients, we close the bread machine lid and set the program for jam. This program lasts about one hour and twenty minutes, during which the machine will mix, heat the ingredients to boiling, and finish the process with a pre-cooling stage.
After the program has finished, it is important to use an oven mitt to remove the bowl from the machine, considering that it will be very hot. We let the jam cool slightly before transferring it to a bowl, a plastic container, or another suitable freezer container. It is good to know that during cooling, the jam will thicken further, and its flavor will become more intense. This jam can be stored in the freezer for several months, making it an excellent option for winter, or it can be kept in the refrigerator for a few days for immediate consumption.
This recipe is extremely versatile, allowing you to experiment with various flavors and fruits, as long as the total mixture does not exceed two to three cups of ingredients. It is a quick method for making jam that does not require spending too much time on the stove, making it ideal for busy people. The peach jam we presented is a quick American-style variant, perfect for those who want to enjoy a delicious jam without too much effort.
