Chocolate Liqueur

Ingredients: 500 g sugar, 300 ml water, 4-6 tablespoons cocoa (good quality), 300 ml refined alcohol or vodka (if you don't like it too strong)

To prepare a delicious cocoa liqueur, all you need are a few simple ingredients and a few minutes of dedication. We start by combining sugar with cocoa in a bowl. It is important that they are mixed well so that there are no cocoa lumps remaining. Once you have a homogeneous mixture, gradually add warm water. This step is essential, as the warm water helps dissolve the sugar and activate the flavors in the cocoa. Stir constantly until you achieve a smooth paste.

After mixing well, transfer the mixture to a pot and place it on the stove over low heat. Boil the mixture for about two minutes. It is important to stir constantly to avoid burning the mixture. During this time, the sugar will completely dissolve, and the flavors will intensify. After boiling, remove the pot from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly.

Now comes the crucial moment, the addition of alcohol. I prefer to let the mixture cool well before adding the alcohol, as this helps preserve the flavors and prevents the rapid evaporation of the alcohol. You can use any type of alcohol you prefer, but I recommend a quality rum or whiskey, which will add a deep note to your liqueur. Add the alcohol gradually, tasting along the way until you reach the desired intensity.

This simple and quick recipe is ideal for moments when you have unexpected guests and want to impress them with a delicious liquid dessert. You can serve the cocoa liqueur in small glasses, alongside some cookies or fine pastries. It is a perfect drink for winter evenings or to celebrate special occasions. Enjoy!
