Pasta with Pesto and Tuna
Ingredients: -60ml pesto sauce -200g canned tuna -3 tablespoons grated cheese -250g short pasta -salt -pepper
Pasta is a versatile and delicious dish, perfect for a quick dinner or a special occasion. In this recipe, we will focus on a savory combination of pesto sauce and tuna, which will transform the pasta into a true culinary feast.
Start by bringing a large pot of water to a boil. Make sure to add enough salt to the water to flavor the pasta. Follow the instructions on the package to achieve al dente pasta, usually between 8 and 12 minutes, depending on the type of pasta used. In the meantime, we will take care of the sauce.
To prepare the sauce, take a large skillet and place it over medium heat. Add the pesto sauce you prepared earlier. If you don’t have a pesto recipe, you can quickly make one from fresh basil leaves, olive oil, pine nuts or walnuts, garlic, and Parmesan. In our case, we are using a cheese-free pesto, which makes it light and flavorful. Make sure the sauce is heated well, but do not let it boil.
Next, drain the canned tuna, making sure it is not in oil, to avoid adding extra fats to the sauce. Add the tuna to the skillet along with the pesto sauce and gently stir to combine the flavors. Add salt and pepper to taste, and if you want an extra kick, you can incorporate a little lemon juice or chili flakes. Let the mixture sauté for a few minutes so that the flavors blend perfectly.
Once the pasta is cooked, drain it well, but keep a cup of the water it was boiled in, as you can use it to adjust the consistency of the sauce if needed. Add the pasta directly to the skillet with the pesto and tuna sauce, gently stirring to coat each piece of pasta with the delicious sauce. Finally, add the grated cheese, which will melt slightly in the warm mixture, adding creaminess.
Stir everything until the cheese is well incorporated and the pasta is evenly coated. Serve the pasta warm, garnished with a few fresh basil leaves or a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil for added flavor. This is a simple yet flavorful recipe that is sure to impress. Enjoy your meal!
