Ingredients: -4 tomatoes -2 onions -1 kg minced pork or mixed meat -50 g oatmeal -1/2 cup milk -1/2 cup water -2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce -2 tablespoons red wine vinegar -2 teaspoons salt -1/4 teaspoon pepper -4-6 cloves of garlic, crushed -2-4 tablespoons tomato paste -1 teaspoon sugar -1 bunch of fresh parsley, finely chopped -oil

To prepare a delicious recipe for meatballs with tomato and onion sauce, you will need simple ingredients that have a big impact on flavor. Start by peeling the tomatoes and cutting them into small cubes. In a frying pan, heat the oil and add the tomatoes along with the coarsely chopped onion. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the onion becomes soft and translucent, and the tomatoes begin to break down, releasing their juice. This combination will form the flavorful base of the dish. Once the mixture has cooled, transfer it to a large bowl.

In another container, add minced pork or beef, depending on your preference. Over this, add the oats, which will not only improve the texture of the meatballs but also add extra nutrients. Then incorporate half of the onion and tomato mixture, mixing well to evenly distribute the flavors.

To enhance the taste, add the milk, Worcestershire sauce, and vinegar, seasoning with salt, pepper, crushed garlic, and freshly chopped parsley. Mix everything until you achieve a homogeneous composition, then knead well to activate the proteins in the meat, which will help the meatballs bind together. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least an hour. This step is essential for achieving fluffy and easily moldable meatballs.

After the dough has rested in the fridge, preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. Shape medium-sized meatballs and place them in a not very deep baking dish. Drizzle them with a little oil to help them brown nicely during baking.

In another bowl, dilute the tomato paste with water, adding salt and pepper to taste. Don’t forget the sugar, which will balance the acidity of the tomatoes. Pour this sauce over the meatballs, making sure they are well covered. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for about an hour, or until the meatballs are well cooked and browned, and the sauce has reduced.

Finally, serve the meatballs hot, alongside a spoonful of the remaining onion and tomato mixture, drizzling a bit of the delicious sauce on top. Sprinkle with chopped fresh parsley for an extra touch of freshness and flavor. This recipe is sure to bring smiles to the faces of your loved ones at the table!
