Number of servings: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 100 g white chocolate (preferably high quality)
- 200 g dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa)
- 4 walnut halves (or more, depending on preferences)
- 4 tablespoons of milk
- 1 decorating pen (white and red, from Dr.Otker)
A bit of history:
Chocolate and nut candies have their origins in the culinary traditions of many cultures, often prepared during festivities or as special gifts. The combination of chocolate and nuts is a classic choice, bringing a perfect balance between the sweet taste of chocolate and the crunchy texture of nuts.
Step by step, how to prepare these delicious candies:
1. Melting the chocolate:
Start by preparing a double boiler. Place a pot of water over medium heat and, on top, place a heat-resistant bowl. Divide the white chocolate and dark chocolate into separate bowls. Add 2 tablespoons of milk to each bowl. Stir constantly until the chocolate melts completely and becomes smooth. Be careful not to let the water in the pot boil, otherwise the chocolate can burn.
2. Preparing the nuts:
Crack the walnuts and remove the halves. You can lightly toast the halves in a pan without oil for a few minutes to enhance their flavor. Let them cool.
3. Forming the heart shapes with dots:
Place a plastic wrap in a heart-shaped cake mold. Make sure the wrap is pressed firmly against the walls to form a stable base. Place a walnut half in the center of the mold and pour a little melted white chocolate over it. Put the mold in the freezer for about 10 minutes until the chocolate hardens.
4. Finishing the heart:
After the white chocolate has hardened, pour the melted dark chocolate over it and put the mold back in the freezer for another 10-15 minutes. Once it has hardened, decorate with small white dots made with the Dr.Otker decorating pen for a festive look.
5. Preparing the gift candies:
Use a tall cup with a small diameter and place the plastic wrap inside, pressing it firmly with your fingers. Put the halves of two walnuts at the bottom of the cup, then pour in the melted dark chocolate. Wait a few minutes for it to harden, then add a disc of white chocolate and pour dark chocolate again to finish. Place in the freezer for 10-15 minutes, then decorate with the white pen in a bow shape.
6. Tart version:
If you want to add a touch of originality, you can prepare a candy in the shape of a mini tart. Combine the white and dark chocolate into a mix and coat the entire candy in dark chocolate. Then decorate with the white and red pen for an attractive visual effect.
Practical tips:
- Make sure the silicone molds are well greased with a little oil before pouring in the chocolate to facilitate the removal of the candies.
- You can replace the nuts with other dried fruits, such as almonds or hazelnuts, to experiment with different flavors.
- If you want a vegan version, you can use dark chocolate and almond or coconut milk.
Frequently asked questions:
1. Can I use another type of chocolate?
Of course! You can experiment with milk chocolate or entirely white chocolate, depending on your personal preferences.
2. How long can I keep the candies?
These candies can be stored in the refrigerator for about 1-2 weeks, although they are so delicious that I doubt they will last that long!
3. What can these candies be paired with?
These candies are perfect alongside a cup of coffee or aromatic tea, but also as an elegant dessert served at a festive table.
Nutritional benefits:
Chocolate and nut candies are not only delicious but also nutritious. Nuts are rich in omega-3 fatty acids and antioxidants, helping to maintain heart health. Dark chocolate, on the other hand, contains flavonoids that can improve blood circulation and brain health.
