Preparation time: 30 minutes
Baking time: 15 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Number of servings: 24 cookies
Happy Farm cookies are not just a quick dessert, but also a true visual feast, perfect for any occasion. Inspired by gingerbread dough, these cookies are decorated with a lot of imagination, turning them into a delight for both the taste buds and the eyes. Let's see how we can create this wonder step by step!
Ingredients:
- 250 g flour
- 100 g brown sugar
- 100 g butter (at room temperature)
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/4 teaspoon ground cloves
- A pinch of salt
- 100 g sugar glaze (for decoration)
- Food coloring (optional)
- Edible decorations (marzipan, colorful candies, etc.)
Step by step:
1. Preparing the dough:
In a large bowl, mix the soft butter with the brown sugar until you get a creamy mixture. This is an essential step to create a light and airy texture. Add the egg and continue mixing until fully incorporated.
2. Mixing the dry ingredients:
In another bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger, cloves, and salt. This spice mix will give the cookies a rich and warm flavor, typical of the holidays.
3. Incorporating the ingredients:
Gradually add the dry ingredient mix to the butter and egg mixture. Use a spatula or a wooden spoon to mix until everything is well incorporated. It is important not to overmix, to keep the dough tender.
4. Shaping the cookies:
Preheat the oven to 180°C. On a baking tray lined with parchment paper, form small balls of dough, about 2-3 cm in diameter. Gently flatten them with your palm to create flat shapes.
5. Baking:
Bake the cookies for 12-15 minutes or until the edges turn golden. Let them cool on a cooling rack. This will allow the cookies to firm up and become perfectly tender.
6. Decorating:
Once the cookies have cooled completely, use the sugar glaze and food coloring to decorate them. You can create cheerful shapes, such as farm animals or flowers, using edible decorations. This step is part of the fun, so let your imagination fly!
Serving suggestions:
These cookies can be served alongside a cup of tea or coffee, but they can also be a wonderful gift for friends and family. You can even organize a small decorating competition with loved ones to bring even more joy to the preparation of this dessert.
Variations:
If you want to personalize the recipe, you can add chopped nuts, chocolate, or dried fruits to the dough. Additionally, by replacing part of the flour with cocoa, you can achieve chocolate cookies, ideal for chocolate lovers.
These Happy Farm cookies are not just a simple recipe, but also a pleasant activity, perfect for spending quality time with loved ones. Experiment, decorate, and enjoy every bite!
For the gingerbread, mix the flour with ginger, baking soda, salt, and spices (cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg). Beat the brown sugar and butter until fluffy, add the syrup and eggs, and then gradually add the flour. Mix well, cover, and let it chill for 2 hours, or until firm. Royal icing (the recipe will need to be doubled for sturdiness!!!) Beat the egg whites until foamy and form peaks, gradually add 2 cups of sifted powdered sugar and almond essence. Mix on low speed until creamy, then increase to maximum speed and mix until stiff. Farm: Divide the dough into 4 equal parts. Roll out one part directly in the baking tray, into a sheet 0.6 cm thick. Cut 6 pieces of 7x15 cm, leaving 1.25 cm between pieces. Cut along one of the longer sides in a zigzag pattern, maximum 2.5 cm - the top edge of the fence. Bake for 10-12 minutes at 190 degrees C, or until the edges are colored. Cool completely on a rack. Roll out the second piece into a sheet 0.6 cm thick, also in the tray, cut 4 pieces of 7x15 cm and 2 squares of 7.5 cm. Bake and cool completely. Roll out the remaining 2 pieces into a sheet 0.3 cm thick and cut with shapes, animals. Bake, cool. Decorate with royal icing and candies, as in the photo. Cover a 50 cm piece of cardboard with decorative paper and foil. Put icing in a bag, cut a little, and draw thin lines to outline the wooden pieces of the fence. Assemble the fence by placing icing on the base and each side. Use 2 small pieces to form the gates. Stick with icing, so that the animals lean against the fence or other animals. Sprinkle colored coconut green for grass around the animals' feet. You will get 24 little animals and the fence. They are served as is, alongside a cup of milk or cocoa.
