Baked Hake
Ingredients: For 4 people: - 4 fish (any type of fish that does not have many bones can be used), - 3 large onions, - 2 tomatoes, - 50 ml of oil, - salt, pepper, bay leaves, sweet paprika, - 1 lemon
To prepare a delicious and healthy dish, we start with the essential ingredients, which include onion, fresh fish, tomatoes, lemon, oil, spices, and herbs. We begin by peeling and slicing the onion into thin scales, making sure they are uniform so that they cook evenly. In a large skillet, we add the oil and heat it over medium heat. Once the oil is hot, we add the sliced onion, a pinch of salt, and freshly ground pepper. These spices will help enhance the flavors.
We stir the onion well and cover the skillet with a lid. This way, the onion will soften nicely without browning, and the flavors will concentrate. We add bay leaves and sweet paprika, which will give our dish a special taste. After a few minutes, when the onion becomes translucent, we will remove it from the skillet and place it in a baking dish or a yena dish, forming an even layer.
The next step is to deal with the fish. We choose fresh fish fillets, such as sea bream, carp, or salmon, depending on preferences. We portion the fish into suitable-sized pieces and place it over the layer of sautéed onion. On top of the fish, we add slices of fresh tomatoes, which will bring a pleasant contrast both visually and in taste. The tomatoes add a note of freshness and acidity to the dish.
To further enhance the flavor, we drizzle everything with the juice of a fresh lemon, which will balance the tastes and add a note of vivacity. We preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius, and when it is ready, we place the dish in the oven. We let the dish bake for 20-25 minutes. During this time, the flavors will combine, and the fish will become tender and juicy, while the onion and tomatoes will transform into a delicious sauce.
After the baking time has expired, we carefully remove the dish from the oven, allowing the aromas to delight our senses. The dish can be served warm, alongside sides such as rice, mashed potatoes, or a fresh green salad. This simple yet flavorful recipe will bring a touch of indulgence to your table. Bon appétit!
