Meat roll
To prepare a delicious and comforting recipe, we will start by ensuring that all the ingredients are properly prepared. In a large bowl, we take a few slices of bread, preferably rustic or homemade bread, and soak them in fresh milk, leaving them for a few minutes to absorb the liquid well. It is essential for the bread to become soft, but not so much that it turns into mush. After they have soaked, we squeeze them well to remove the excess milk, maintaining their consistency.
Meanwhile, we take care of the aromatic vegetables. The onion is finely chopped, ensuring we get small pieces so that it integrates perfectly into our mixture. The garlic, which we will use to intensify the flavors, is pressed through a garlic press or, alternatively, can be finely chopped. These ingredients will add a savory note to our dish.
Once we have the squeezed bread and chopped vegetables, in a heated pan with a bit of olive oil or butter, we add the onion and garlic, allowing them to sauté gently until they become translucent and release their aromas. It is important to stir constantly to prevent burning, and the enticing smell that will rise in the air will give us hints that we are on the right track.
After the onion has taken on a slightly golden hue, we add the squeezed bread, mixing well to combine all the ingredients. To this mixture, we can also add our favorite spices: salt, pepper, a handful of freshly chopped parsley, or even a bit of basil for a Mediterranean flavor. We cook everything over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until the bread becomes slightly crispy on the outside and perfectly blends with the vegetables.
This tasty base can be used in various dishes: from savory meatballs to fillings for vegetables or even as a side dish alongside roasts. Regardless of how you choose to use it, the final result will always be a delicious one that will delight the taste buds of your loved ones. This simple yet flavorful recipe will turn you into a kitchen master, bringing joy and flavor to every bite.
