Preparation time: 30 minutes
Baking time: 15 minutes
Total time: 45 minutes
Number of servings: 12 cups
Ingredients:
- 1 package of puff pastry (approximately 400 g)
- 500 ml milk
- 150 g sugar
- 3 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1 vanilla essence
- Fresh fruits for decoration (strawberries, blueberries, kiwi, etc.)
- 1 egg yolk
- 1 egg white
- 1 tablespoon milk for brushing
- Sesame seeds for decoration
Preparation:
1. Preparing the dough: Start by preheating the oven to 200°C. Roll out the puff pastry sheet on a clean, lightly floured surface. Use a glass or round cutter to cut circles from the dough, about 8-10 cm in diameter. From the 12 circles, leave 6 as they are, and for the other 6, cut a smaller circle in the middle using a small glass.
2. Forming the cups: Take the whole dough circles and brush the edges with the egg yolk and milk mixture. This step will help seal the two parts of the cups together. Place the circles with the hole on top of the whole ones, ensuring they slightly overlap at the edges. Brush again with the egg yolk and sprinkle sesame seeds on top for a crunchy and delicious look.
3. Baking: Place the cups on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake them in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Occasionally, use a toothpick to gently poke the middle of each cup so they don't puff up too much. The cups are ready when they turn golden and crunchy.
4. Preparing the cream: In a saucepan, add 500 ml of milk and 150 g of sugar. Place the saucepan over medium heat and let it come to a boil. Meanwhile, dissolve the 3 tablespoons of cornstarch in a splash of cold milk. Once the milk starts to boil, add the cornstarch mixture and stir constantly. Continue to boil until the cream thickens. Once it reaches the desired consistency, remove from heat and add the vanilla essence. Let the cream cool completely.
5. Assembling the cups: Once the cups have cooled, fill them with the milk cream using a spoon or piping bag. Decorate each cup with fresh fruits, such as sliced strawberries, blueberries, or kiwi cubes for an extra touch of freshness and color.
Serving suggestions: These cups are ideal for serving at a festive meal or party. You can prepare them a day in advance and fill them with cream just before serving to maintain the crunchy texture of the pastry.
Possible variations: If you want to add a touch of originality, you can add a bit of cocoa to the cream to create a chocolate version or infuse the cream with citrus flavors, such as lime or orange.
These puff pastry cups with milk cream are not only an easy dessert to make but also an explosion of taste and textures that will delight any sweet lover. Take the opportunity and treat your family and friends with this simple and delicious recipe!
