Chocolate and Banana Cake
To prepare a delicious and moist banana bread, the first step is to preheat your oven. Set it to 180 degrees Celsius, ensuring it will be ready to bake the wonderful treat you are about to make. While the oven is preheating, take a 23/33 cm baking tray and grease it with butter, making sure to cover every corner. After greasing the tray, dust it with flour to prevent the batter from sticking.
Now, it’s time to deal with the dry ingredients. In a large bowl, sift the flour, then add the baking powder, baking soda, sugar, sifted cocoa, and salt. Mix all these ingredients well with a spatula or whisk to ensure they combine evenly. In another bowl, prepare the wet ingredients: pour in the milk, crack the eggs, add water, oil, and vanilla essence. Gently whisk these ingredients until well combined.
Once you have both the dry and wet ingredient mixtures ready, it’s time to unify them. Pour the liquid mixture into the dry one and mix carefully until no lumps remain. This is the stage where you add the banana puree, which you obtained by mashing the bananas with a fork. Continue to mix gently so that the puree is well distributed throughout the batter.
After the batter is ready, pour it into the prepared tray and make sure it is evenly distributed. Then, place the tray in the oven and let it bake for about 40 minutes. Baking time may vary depending on the oven, so it is recommended to do the toothpick test to check if it is baked. When the toothpick comes out clean, it means your banana bread is ready.
Once you take it out of the oven, let it cool in the tray for a few minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. To glaze it, melt the chocolate together with the heavy cream in a double boiler or microwave, adding a tablespoon of butter for a glossy look and creamy texture. When the glaze is ready, generously pour it over the bread, allowing it to drip down the sides, creating a special effect. This banana bread, with its decadent glaze, is perfect for serving on a special occasion or simply to indulge yourself. Enjoy it with a cup of tea or coffee!
