Sangria
Ingredients: 1 liter of quality red wine, 500 ml of Sprite, 1 peach sliced, 1 orange segmented, 1 lemon sliced, canned pineapple cubes, 200 ml of homemade raspberry syrup, canned pineapple syrup (optional), fresh or frozen blackberries, 2 tablespoons of honey (sugar or syrup to taste), 3 thin slices of watermelon cut into cubes.
To prepare a delicious fruit salad with wine, it is essential to enjoy the freshness and flavors of each ingredient. Start by carefully washing all the fruits, ensuring they are clean and ready to be transformed into a tasty dish. If you are using an organic lemon, feel free to slice it with the skin on, as the peel contains essential oils that will add extra flavor to the dish. The orange should be peeled carefully, and the slices should be separated into segments, making serving and consumption easier. The peaches should be sliced into suitable pieces, and the melon should be cut into playful cubes, which will add a touch of freshness.
Blackberries or frozen raspberries can be added directly from the freezer without thawing, to preserve their texture and freshness. The canned pineapple will contribute its sweetness and juiciness. Don’t forget to keep the pineapple juice, as it will be an essential ingredient in preparing sangria or can be used later, depending on your preferences.
Once all the fruits are prepared, place them in a large bowl and drizzle honey over them. If you prefer, you can replace the honey with sugar or agave syrup, depending on your taste. Pour white or red wine over the fruits, ensuring that all ingredients are well covered. If you choose to use pineapple juice, add it now along with the raspberry syrup for a rich and flavorful taste. Gently mix, being careful not to crush the fruits, and place everything in the refrigerator overnight for the flavors to harmonize.
On the day of serving, keep the bottle of Sprite or 7 Up in the fridge to chill. Just before serving, pour the carbonated drink over the fruit salad, adding a fizzy appearance and a touch of freshness. Adjust the sweetness level to taste, considering that the raspberry syrup brings a considerable amount of sugar. Personally, I opted for two tablespoons of honey, not needing any additional sugar.
For serving, use wide-mouthed wine glasses, filling them with the fruit mix and liquid, adding a few ice cubes to keep the drink cold. Decorate each glass with fresh fruits for an attractive and appetizing appearance. This fruit salad with wine is not only a delicious choice but also an elegant way to impress guests at any party or gathering!
