To prepare a delicious dish of potatoes and meat, start by carefully peeling the potatoes. Wash them under a stream of cold water to remove dirt and impurities. Once they are clean, place them in a large pot, adding enough water to cover them completely. Don't forget to add a teaspoon of salt, which will enhance the flavor of the mash. Let the potatoes boil over medium heat for 20-25 minutes until they become soft and a fork easily pierces them. After they are cooked, drain the water and mash them with a potato masher, optionally adding a small piece of butter for extra creaminess.

Meanwhile, prepare the filling. In a frying pan, heat a little sunflower or olive oil, then add the finely chopped onion. Sauté the onion over medium heat, stirring constantly, until it becomes translucent and slightly golden. Then, add minced pork or beef, depending on your preferences. Fry the meat well, stirring frequently to ensure it cooks evenly. Season with salt, pepper, and other favorite spices, such as paprika or oregano, for a more intense flavor. If desired, you can also add finely chopped mushrooms to the mixture, which will add a savory note. When the meat is well cooked, remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool slightly, then add the two eggs and mix well to bind the ingredients.

Now that all components are ready, preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius. In a greased baking dish, start by laying an even layer of mashed potatoes on the bottom of the dish. Then, add a generous layer of the meat mixture, followed by another layer of mashed potatoes. For an appetizing look, grate some cheese on top. Place the dish in the preheated oven and let it bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until the surface becomes golden and crispy.

Once the dish is ready, let it cool slightly before slicing. This savory meal pairs perfectly with a fresh vegetable salad, pickled cucumbers, or a beet salad, which adds a touch of freshness.
