Bavarian potatoes are an excellent choice for a hearty meal, perfect for both lunch and dinner. This traditional German recipe transforms simple potatoes into delicious delicacies, full of flavors and refined textures. The preparation is simple, and the result will surely impress all your loved ones.

To prepare Bavarian potatoes, you need the following ingredients: 1 kg of potatoes (preferably for mashing), 200 g of cottage cheese, 150 g of sour cream, 2 eggs, 100 g of smoked bacon or lard, 1 large onion, 1 bunch of fresh parsley, salt and pepper to taste, and optionally a pinch of nutmeg to enhance the flavors.

Start by washing the potatoes well and boiling them in salted water until they become soft. After boiling, drain them and let them cool slightly, then peel them. Mash the potatoes in a large bowl, adding the cottage cheese, eggs, sour cream, salt, pepper, and nutmeg. Mix well until you get a smooth and creamy mixture.

Meanwhile, cut the bacon into small cubes and fry it in a pan until it becomes crispy, then add the finely chopped onion and sauté until it turns golden. This combination will add a savory taste to your Bavarian potatoes. Once done, add the bacon and onion to the potato mixture and mix again carefully.

Greasing a baking tray with butter or oil is the next step. Pour the potato mixture into the tray and level the surface. You can sprinkle some chopped parsley on top for an extra touch of color and freshness. Place the tray in a preheated oven at 180 degrees Celsius and let it bake for about 30-40 minutes, until the surface becomes golden and crispy.

Bavarian potatoes are served warm, alongside a fresh green salad or pickles, to complement this savory dish. Their aroma, texture, and taste will turn any meal into a true culinary celebration. This recipe is not just a way to enjoy potatoes, but also to bring a touch of German tradition into your kitchen. Enjoy your meal!

The potatoes are boiled in their skins, peeled, and sliced into rounds. Meanwhile, the sour cream and cheese are mixed with a whisk, seasoned with a little salt and grated red onion, and the sliced sausages are added. The potatoes and the sour cream mixture are placed in a greased heat-resistant dish, and everything is baked in the oven until the potatoes fully absorb the sour cream mixture. When ready, the sausage pieces are arranged on top in a star shape and roasted in the hot oven for another 10 minutes. Bavarian potatoes are served warm.
