- 4-5 medium apples (preferably tart apples like Granny Smith or Jonagold)
- 200 g sugar
- 3 eggs
- 200 g flour
- 1 packet baking powder (about 10 g)
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional, for extra flavor)
- A pinch of salt
- Powdered sugar for decoration (optional)

Preparation instructions:

1. Start by preparing the pan. Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F). Grease a baking pan with margarine, using about 100 g. Make sure the margarine is evenly distributed to prevent the cake from sticking.

2. Wash the apples under cold running water. Don't forget to keep the skin on, as it will add flavor and texture. Grate the apples directly into the pan until you reach halfway up. This will ensure the apples blend perfectly into the fluffy batter.

3. In a large bowl, beat the eggs together with the sugar until the mixture becomes frothy and light yellow. This is an essential step, as the air incorporated into the mixture will contribute to the fluffy texture of the cake.

4. Add the sifted flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if you choose to use it) to the bowl with eggs and sugar. Gently mix with a spatula or whisk, avoiding overmixing the batter. It is important to mix only until the ingredients come together to achieve a light cake.
