Snow White Cake: A Delicacy with a Story

If you are looking for a dessert that combines the fluffy texture of layers with a delicious and smooth cream, the "Snow White" cake is the perfect choice! This cake is not just a simple recipe, but also a culinary experience that brings joy not only to the table but also to the soul. Its origins are shrouded in mystery, but it is certain that it has been loved for generations and has become a favorite among those who adore sweets.

Preparation time: 2 hours
Baking time: 20 minutes
Total time: 2 hours and 20 minutes
Number of servings: 12

Ingredients:

For the layers:
- 250 g flour
- 80 g butter (at room temperature)
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon of ammonia (dissolved in 4 tablespoons of milk)

For the cream:
- 400 ml milk
- 250 g butter (at room temperature)
- 2 tablespoons flour (optional, one tablespoon of cornstarch)
- 250 g powdered sugar (you can adjust to taste)
- 1 packet of vanilla sugar

Preparation:

1. Preparing the layers:
In a large bowl, combine the flour with the powdered sugar. Add the butter cut into cubes and mix with a fork or your fingers until you achieve a crumbly texture. Add the egg and the ammonia dissolved in milk, then knead the dough well. It should be a soft dough but easy to roll out.

2. Rolling out the layers:
Divide the dough into 3 equal parts. On a floured surface, roll each part into thin layers using a rolling pin. Use the back of the baking tray to guide your size. Place the layers on a baking tray lined with parchment paper.

3. Baking the layers:
Preheat the oven to 180°C. Bake the layers for 5-8 minutes until they turn slightly golden. Remove them and let them cool on a rack or a clean towel.

4. Preparing the cream:
In a saucepan, heat 300 ml of milk. In a separate bowl, mix the remaining 100 ml of milk with the flour and cornstarch until you obtain a smooth mixture. When the milk starts to boil, pour in the milk and flour mixture, stirring constantly with a whisk. Continue to stir until the cream thickens, having the consistency of pudding. Turn off the heat and let it cool, stirring occasionally to prevent a crust from forming.

5. Beating the butter:
In a large bowl, beat the butter with the powdered sugar and vanilla sugar until it becomes fluffy. Make sure the butter is at room temperature to achieve a creamy texture.

6. Combining the ingredients:
When the cream has completely cooled, add one tablespoon of the pudding cream into the butter foam, mixing gently. Continue until all the pudding is incorporated into the butter cream.

7. Assembling the cake:
Place the first layer of dough on a tray. Spread some cream on top and repeat the process with the other layers. The last layer will be covered with the remaining cream.

8. Cooling and serving:
Cover the cake with plastic wrap and let it chill in the fridge for at least 4 hours, but ideally overnight. There will be days when patience will be rewarded, and the flavors will intensify, making it even more delicious. For an extra touch of refinement, you can leave the cake at room temperature for 3 days, ensuring it doesn’t spoil.

Practical Tips:
- Make sure the butter is soft but not melted. This will help achieve a light and airy cream.
- If you want to enrich the flavors, you can add lemon or orange zest to the butter cream.
- Use a spatula to evenly spread the cream, ensuring the cake will be well proportioned.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- Can I use another type of sugar? You can use brown sugar for a more caramelized taste, but the cake will be sweeter.
- What other flavors can I use? You can add almond or rum essence to the butter cream for a unique touch.
- How can I store the cake? The cake stores well in the fridge for up to a week, but make sure it is covered.

Delicious Combinations:
The Snow White cake pairs wonderfully with a fragrant coffee or a fruit tea. Additionally, vanilla ice cream will add a refreshing note that perfectly complements the sweetness of this cake.

Enjoy the cooking process and remember that every cake is a story worth telling! Let your imagination run wild and turn this recipe into a special moment for your loved ones. Bon appétit!
