Langosi

To prepare some delicious langos, the beginning is essential. In a large bowl, we mix the basic ingredients: flour, warm water, fresh yeast, salt, and a little sugar. These will contribute to the development of a fluffy and aromatic texture. After obtaining a homogeneous dough, we cover the bowl with a clean towel and let it rise for 20 minutes in a warm place, where the temperature will favor the yeast's activity, causing the dough to double in volume.

Once the rising time has expired, we prepare to form 10 balls from the dough. We grease our hands with a little oil to avoid sticking. Each ball should be uniform so that the langos bake evenly. We place the balls on a clean surface, greased with oil, to prevent them from sticking. Using our fingers, we begin to stretch each ball, giving it the characteristic shape of langos, which should be slightly thinner at the edges and thicker in the center.

The oil in the pan should be well heated, but not smoking, to avoid burning. We carefully place the langos in the hot oil, being careful not to overcrowd the pan to allow for even frying. The langos will brown nicely in a few minutes on each side, and the enticing smell will fill the entire kitchen. Using a spatula, turn them carefully to ensure they cook evenly.

Once the langos have reached a golden hue, we remove them from the oil and place them on a platter covered with paper towels, which will absorb the excess oil. While they are still warm, we fill them with grated cow cheese, which will melt slightly, adding a special flavor. Langos can be served with various toppings, such as sour cream, garlic, or even spicy sauces, depending on individual preferences. This traditional dish is an excellent choice for both family meals and special occasions, bringing a touch of joy and flavor in every bite. Enjoy!
