Beetroot Ketchup (Vegan and Gluten Free)
Ingredients: 2 red beets, cooked and peeled (about 200 g in total) 1/2 onion chopped/grated (I did not add) 1-2 cloves of garlic (I did not add) 1 teaspoon of apple cider vinegar max 1 teaspoon of sugar or honey a little dried thyme 1/4 teaspoon of ground cinnamon tabasco (it's in the original recipe I added a teaspoon of hot mustard) salt
To obtain a delicious and flavorful recipe, we start by preparing the necessary ingredients. Choose a fresh, medium-sized beet that is firm and vibrant in color. Also, if you decide to add onion and garlic, opt for a red or white onion, depending on your preferences, and a clove of fresh garlic. These ingredients will enrich the final taste of the dish.
Once the ingredients are prepared, we begin the mixing process. Peel the beet and cut it into smaller cubes to facilitate mixing. If you chose to add onion and garlic, clean and chop them into large pieces for easy mashing. Put all the ingredients in a blender or use a hand mixer, depending on your preferences. Mixing is essential to achieve a smooth and homogeneous texture.
After obtaining a homogeneous paste, it's time to add the other ingredients. You can include yogurt or sour cream, which will add a rich creaminess and a touch of acidity. It is also recommended to add lemon juice, which will enhance the flavors and provide a pleasant contrast. Season with salt and pepper to taste. If you want to add an extra flavor note, try adding some fresh dill or parsley leaves.
