Fish Fillet Baked in Parchment
To prepare a culinary delight with fish fillets, we start by rinsing the fillets under a stream of cold water to remove any impurities and enhance their freshness. After rinsing, we carefully place them on a kitchen towel, allowing them to drain and dry a little. Now, it’s time to season them: we sprinkle salt and pepper on both sides, ensuring that the flavors are well absorbed into the meat.
We prepare a baking tray and place a longer sheet of aluminum foil on it, which we drizzle with a little olive oil to prevent the fish from sticking. Then, we lay the fish fillets on the aluminum foil, making sure they do not overlap. On top of them, we add a few fresh parsley and dill leaves, which will bring an extra flavor. Garlic, halved, is added to infuse the dish with a distinctive taste. We don’t forget the lemon slices, which not only provide a pleasant acidity but also a note of freshness. We sprinkle a few drops of olive oil to intensify the flavors.
We cover everything with another sheet of aluminum foil, a little longer than the first, and begin to seal the packet tightly. We carefully fold the edges, ensuring that there are no gaps for steam to escape. Before placing the tray in the oven, we add about 4 tablespoons of water to the tray, which will generate steam and keep the fish juicy.
The oven should be preheated to 400°F (204°C). We place the tray on the middle rack, taking care that there is no grill above, as the fish packet will puff up during baking. We let the dish bake for 12-15 minutes, during which time the flavors will combine wonderfully, and the fish will become tender and tasty.
After the time is up, we take the tray out of the oven. With great care, we cut the aluminum foil, being cautious of the hot steam that will escape. We place the fish fillets on a plate and serve them immediately, to enjoy their freshness. This recipe can optionally be enhanced with an aioli sauce, which adds a creamy and savory note, but it is perfect as is. Enjoy your meal!
