Viennetta ice cream is a refined specialty, a dessert that combines delicate layers of ice cream with a rich chocolate sauce, perfect for hot summer days. This homemade ice cream recipe is not only simple but also captivating, turning each serving into a true gastronomic experience. Get ready to impress your friends and family with this delight!

Preparation time: 30 minutes
Freezing time: 4 hours
Total time: 4 hours and 30 minutes
Number of servings: 8

Necessary ingredients:
- 500 ml heavy cream (minimum 30% fat)
- 397 g sweetened condensed milk
- 100 g dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa)
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- A pinch of salt

Step 1: Preparing the ice cream
In a large bowl, whip the heavy cream until fluffy but not too stiff. It is important not to over-whip it, or it will turn into butter. Gently fold in the sweetened condensed milk and vanilla extract, mixing lightly with a silicone spatula or wooden spoon. This combination will create a creamy and airy texture, perfect for your Viennetta ice cream.

Step 2: Preparing the chocolate sauce
In a small saucepan, melt the dark chocolate together with the butter over low heat, stirring constantly to avoid burning. Once melted, remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool slightly. Add a pinch of salt to enhance the chocolate flavor.

Step 3: Assembling
In a loaf pan or a rectangular container, add a thin layer of the ice cream mixture, followed by a layer of chocolate sauce. Repeat this process, alternating between the two, until both mixtures are finished. It is important that the last layers are ice cream to achieve a uniform appearance. Use a knife or spatula to create a swirl effect in the mixture, adding an artistic detail.

Step 4: Freezing
Cover the container with plastic wrap and leave it in the freezer for at least 4 hours, ideally overnight. This time will allow the ice cream to achieve a firm and velvety texture.

Step 5: Serving
Remove the Viennetta ice cream from the freezer and let it rest for 5–10 minutes before cutting, to make portioning easier. Use a wet knife to achieve perfect slices. This ice cream is superb served with an extra drizzle of chocolate sauce on top or with some fresh fruits, such as raspberries or strawberries, which add a delicious contrast of acidity.

Useful tips:
- If you want to experiment, try adding ingredients like roasted nuts, chocolate chips, or even a splash of coffee for a unique flavor.
- Make sure the heavy cream is well chilled before whipping, so you'll achieve the ideal texture.

This Viennetta ice cream recipe is not just a quick and simple dessert but also a great way to cool off on hot days. With each bite, you'll feel how you indulge your senses. Enjoy this homemade delight and relish the appreciation of your loved ones!

In a bowl, pour the condensed milk, mix it with a little liquid cream and vanilla, and place it in a Bain-Marie until it is homogenized and heated. DO NOT do as I did, as I put it directly on the heat, forgot about it for about 5 minutes, and it caramelized. Let it cool, meanwhile, put the chocolate in a Bain-Marie to melt, cut 4 strips of baking paper a bit larger than the loaf pan, and when the chocolate has melted, spread it with a brush, then smooth it with a spatula (but only if you feel like it) and place the strips in the freezer, horizontally. Whip the cream in a bowl. Add the mixture with condensed milk and mix the resulting cream well, first with a mixer, then with a spatula. I tasted it; it wasn't overly sweet, it was just right. Take the loaf pan out of the freezer and wrap it with cling film. Take the chocolate sheets out of the freezer and keep them handy. In the loaf pan, pour a little cream. Then place a sheet of chocolate on top. The chocolate comes off the paper very easily. It doesn't matter if it breaks or if the sheets don't come out evenly like a cake, because it's not a cake. It's fine anyway. The important thing is to have layers and for it to crack when you cut it... otherwise, it's not Viennetta. Continue until you finish the cream and chocolate sheets. On top, I sprinkled some dark chocolate chips, then covered the pan with aluminum foil and put it in the freezer. The Viennetta Ice Cream recipe is proposed by Bolognese di Cluj on the culinary forum. Serve Viennetta ice cream when you crave a refreshing and delicious dessert.
