German Green Bean Soup

To prepare a delicious and flavorful salad, we start by peeling the potatoes and carrots, ensuring they are fresh and of good quality. We cut the potatoes into uniform cubes so they cook evenly, and we slice the carrots into thin rounds. We boil the potatoes and carrots in lightly salted water, being careful not to leave them on the heat for too long to avoid becoming too soft. It is essential that these vegetables remain firm, so we check them after about 15-20 minutes, depending on the size of the cubes.
Meanwhile, we prepare the peas, which can be used either fresh or frozen. We add them to a pot of boiling water and let them cook for 3-5 minutes until they become crunchy. This will bring a note of freshness and a contrast of textures to the salad. In addition to these, we will also boil the fish, choosing a variety that suits our tastes, such as salmon or cod. The cooking time may vary depending on the type of fish, but generally, 10-15 minutes is enough to achieve a tender texture.
After all the ingredients are boiled, we remove them from the water and let them cool. Once cooled, we cut the potatoes and carrots into small cubes. The fish should also be flaked into smaller pieces, being careful to remove any bones. In a large bowl, we combine all the ingredients: potatoes, carrots, peas, and fish, gently mixing to avoid breaking their consistency.
To give the salad a special taste, we add mayonnaise and mustard, mixing well until all the ingredients are evenly coated. Then, according to preferences, we can season with salt and a little lemon juice, which will add a touch of acidity and highlight the flavors. A surprise ingredient that will give the salad a fresh note is the fresh apple, cut into small cubes. Its sweet-sour flavor will perfectly complement the other ingredients.
Finally, we grate the cucumber on a fine grater, being careful to squeeze it well to remove excess water, and we add it to the bowl. We mix everything carefully, ensuring that each ingredient is well integrated into the salad. We let the dish chill in the refrigerator for about an hour to cool well and allow the flavors to blend harmoniously. This salad is perfect as an appetizer or main course, being a healthy and tasty choice for any meal.
