Acorn Squash
Ingredients: 1 acorn squash 1 teaspoon of brown sugar 1 teaspoon of honey (I didn't add this)
To prepare a delicious recipe with acorn squash, we start with an acorn squash, which will add a touch of originality to your meal. The first step is to wash the squash well under cold running water, making sure to remove any impurities. Then, with a sharp knife, cut the squash in half lengthwise. Using a spoon, remove the seeds from the inside, being careful not to affect the flesh. This will become a perfect place to add delicious flavors and textures.
After cleaning the squash, proceed to score the flesh diagonally, forming a network of incisions that will allow the brown sugar to penetrate and caramelize during baking. Generously sprinkle brown sugar on each half, ensuring it is evenly distributed. Let the squash sit for about 15-20 minutes, during which the sugar will partially melt, forming a sweet crust.
Meanwhile, prepare a smaller baking dish where you will place the two halves of the squash. Add about 1/2 cup of water to the dish, essential for preventing the skin from burning and helping the flesh bake evenly through the steam created. Preheat the oven to 190°C (380°F) and place the dish with the squash inside. Bake the squash for one hour or until it becomes soft and takes on a slightly brownish hue, an indication that the sugar has started to caramelize.
During baking, it is important to check the water level in the dish. If you notice that the water has decreased significantly, add a little water to ensure optimal baking. Once the squash has reached a golden and appetizing color, remove it from the oven. Use a teaspoon to scoop out the liquid that has formed inside the squash and carefully drizzle it over the flesh, ensuring that each piece is well-hydrated and flavored.
Finally, place the squash halves on a beautiful plate, allowing them to cool slightly. They can be served as a side dish alongside juicy turkey roast or enjoyed on their own as a healthy and flavorful snack. The sweet and slightly caramelized flavors of the squash will perfectly complement any meal, bringing a touch of joy and savor to every bite. Enjoy!
