Oven-baked meatballs
The meatballs we will prepare today are a delicious and healthy choice, perfect for any meal, whether it's a family lunch or a dinner with friends. Although the preparation time may seem longer, the final result will definitely compensate for the effort put in.
We start by preparing all the necessary ingredients. It is essential to have quality minced meat, preferably from beef or chicken, but a combination of both can also be used. We put the minced meat in a large bowl, where we will gradually add the other ingredients. Onion, a staple ingredient, will give a savory taste to the meatballs, so we grate it on a fine grater, so it integrates perfectly into the mixture. Crushed garlic, known for its intense flavors, will add an extra touch of flavor and make the meatballs even more appetizing.
We continue with breadcrumbs, which help bind the ingredients, giving them a pleasant texture. We add an egg, which will act as a binder, ensuring that the meatballs do not fall apart during cooking. Freshly chopped dill is an excellent choice to provide a fresh and aromatic taste. Don't forget to season the mixture with salt and pepper, to taste, to enhance the flavor.
After we have well mixed all the ingredients, we form appropriately sized balls, which we roll in flour. This step will not only help the meatballs develop a golden crust but will also give them a crispy texture. We flatten each ball so that the meatballs cook evenly. We place them on a baking tray lined with parchment paper, making sure to leave enough space between them for proper baking.
We place the tray in the preheated oven at medium to high heat. After about 30 minutes, it’s time to turn the meatballs to ensure they brown nicely on the other side. It is important to watch them, as every oven cooks differently. Once they have taken on a golden and appetizing color, we can take them out and let them cool slightly.
The meatballs are excellent both warm and cold, and to make them even more interesting, we can serve them with various sides, such as creamy mashed potatoes or a fresh salad. These dishes will not only add extra flavor but will turn the meal into a true celebration of tastes. Enjoy every bite and savor the delights you have created!
