Total preparation time: 30 minutes
Cooling time: 2 hours
Number of servings: 20 pieces
Homemade chocolate is a quick and simple dessert, full of flavor, that brings back childhood memories. This easy recipe is perfect for surprising your friends and family with a delicious gift or simply to indulge yourself after a long day. Let’s get started!
Ingredients:
- 200 g dark chocolate (minimum 70% cocoa)
- 100 g butter
- 150 g powdered sugar
- 50 g milk powder
- 100 g ground nuts (optional)
- 1 vanilla essence (optional)
Step 1: Preparing the ingredients
Make sure all ingredients are at room temperature. Dark chocolate will melt more easily if it’s not too cold. If you wish to add nuts, choose your favorite type: walnuts, hazelnuts, or pistachios. Roasted nuts will add a crunchy texture and intense flavor.
Step 2: Melting the chocolate
In a heatproof bowl, break the dark chocolate into small pieces and add the diced butter. Position the bowl over a pot of boiling water, ensuring the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water (bain-marie method). Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and glossy.
Step 3: Sweetening and flavoring
Once the chocolate and butter are melted, remove the bowl from the heat. Add the powdered sugar and milk powder, mixing well to avoid lumps. If you desire an extra flavor, you can add the vanilla essence. Mix well until homogeneous.
Step 4: Adding the nuts
If you chose to use nuts, now is the time to incorporate them into the chocolate mixture. Ensure they are evenly distributed so that each piece of chocolate has a crunchy texture.
Step 5: Pouring into the tray
Prepare a small tray (approximately 20x20 cm) and line it with plastic wrap, leaving an overhang on the edges to help you lift the chocolate out after cooling. Pour the chocolate mixture into the tray and level the surface with a spatula.
Step 6: Cooling
Let the chocolate cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Then, place the tray in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours or until the chocolate is completely set.
Step 7: Cutting and serving
Once the chocolate has set, lift it out of the tray using the plastic wrap. Cut the chocolate into squares or rectangles, depending on your preference.
Serving suggestions:
Homemade chocolate is delicious served plain, but you can accompany it with a glass of warm milk or a cup of coffee. For a festive touch, you can sprinkle a little cocoa or ground nuts on top before cutting.

In a not very small pot, put water and sugar on low heat and stir constantly until the sugar dissolves (this is important), and until you obtain a thicker syrup. Then gradually add the powdered milk mixed with cocoa. Keep stirring continuously. If you can no longer stir the spoon through the pot, start adding the butter cut into cubes until you finish adding the entire mixture of cocoa and powdered milk. After it homogenizes, grease a tray with butter and pour the mixture into it. Level it out, pressing more until it straightens in the tray, then add the nuts. Leave the homemade chocolate tray in the fridge for 12 hours and then cut it into pieces. Homemade chocolate is served cut into cubes. The Homemade Chocolate recipe was proposed by Pocahontas.
