Strawberry Jam

Ingredients: -200 g of fresh strawberries -300 ml of white vinegar.

Hello! Since the true strawberry producers have appeared in our market, I haven't missed a day without buying these wonderful fruits. Strawberries are not only delicious but also very versatile, being able to be used in various dishes. Besides the classic jams and preserves, this year I decided to experiment with something new and interesting. I heard from friends and various culinary blogs that a very good syrup can be made from these fruits, but I decided to try something different: a strawberry vinegar that promises to bring a note of freshness and aroma to my dishes.

The first step in this culinary adventure is choosing the strawberries. It is essential to use fresh, ripe, flavorful fruits. Therefore, we choose quality strawberries, with a vibrant color and no blemishes. After selecting the most beautiful fruits, we wash them carefully under a stream of cold water to remove any impurities or pesticides. After washing, we let them dry on a clean towel, ensuring they are perfectly dry, as moisture could affect the fermentation process.

Once the strawberries are prepared, we cut them into slices or cubes, depending on their size and personal preferences. We place these delicious pieces in a sterilized jar, being careful not to compress them too much to allow the vinegar to seep well among them. After filling the jar, we pour white wine vinegar or apple cider vinegar over the strawberries, ensuring that the fruits are completely covered. It is important that the vinegar is of good quality, as it will influence the final flavor of the product.

We seal the jar tightly and keep it at room temperature for 3 days. During this period, the flavors will combine, and the strawberries will infuse the vinegar with their sweetness and acidity. After three days, we come to an essential step: we filter the vinegar using a fine sieve or cheesecloth to remove the strawberry pieces. We will notice that the vinegar has taken on a beautiful, pink hue, and an unmistakable aroma.

After filtering, we pour the vinegar into clean, sterilized bottles, which we can label. This strawberry vinegar is perfect for use in salads, marinades, or even cocktails. It will surely add a touch of originality and refinement to your meals. So, don't hesitate to try this simple yet extremely tasty recipe! Enjoy it with pleasure and savor the taste of summer even in the cold season!
