Marinated Garlic with Basil Flavor

 Ingredients: For 1 bottle of 750 ml: - 500 g peeled garlic cloves - 1/3 tablespoon coarse salt - 375 ml 9-degree vinegar - 3 pcs. hot peppers - 2 sprigs of basil - 125 ml water - 100 g sugar

To prepare a delicious and aromatic recipe for preserved garlic, start by boiling a large pot of water, adding a teaspoon of salt. This step is essential to intensify the flavor of the garlic. Once the water is boiling, carefully add the garlic cloves, which have been peeled and left whole. Boil them for about 5 minutes to reduce their intensity and improve their texture. After the time has elapsed, drain the garlic and let it cool slightly, being careful not to let it cool completely.

While the garlic cloves are cooling, prepare the sterilized jars that will house this delicacy. Interleave the garlic cloves in the prepared jars, adding sliced hot peppers and a few sprigs of fresh basil alongside. These ingredients will not only add a splash of color but also contribute to a rich and complex flavor. The hot pepper will add a spicy note, while the basil will perfectly complement the garlic aroma.

In another pot, prepare a mixture of diluted vinegar with 125 ml of water, which you will bring to a boil. Add the sugar and stir until it completely dissolves. This acidic solution will help preserve the garlic and will add a perfectly balanced sweet-sour taste. Once the vinegar mixture starts boiling, pour it hot over the garlic cloves and the other ingredients in the jars, making sure to cover them completely.

After pouring the vinegar, seal the jars tightly, ensuring there is no air inside to prevent contamination. Place the jars in a warm, dry place, allowing them to sit until they cool completely. This is a traditional preservation technique that will help the flavors meld and develop.

Once the jars have cooled, store them in a cool, dark place, preferably in a cupboard or pantry where the temperature remains constant. The preserved garlic will be ready to enjoy after a few weeks, when the flavors have integrated well. Use it as an ingredient in various recipes to add a touch of flavor to your favorite dishes or as a simple appetizer alongside a slice of fresh bread. This preparation will not only enrich your meals but also bring a personalized touch, resulting from the care and attention given to each step of the process.
