Cream in a Cup with Marsala Flavor
This Marsala cream recipe is not just a delicacy, but also a journey into the memories of a childhood spent around the table, where flavors and traditions intertwine. We start by preparing the ingredients, making sure we have everything on hand: fresh eggs, sugar, flour, milk, butter, lemon zest, and of course, Marsala wine or desired alternatives.
The first step in making this cream is to mix the eggs with the sugar and flour in a saucepan. It is recommended to use a pear-shaped whisk or a mixer to achieve a smooth, lump-free mixture. Next, we add the cold milk, continuing to mix carefully, ensuring that no lumps remain. This stage is crucial, as a well-mixed base will lead to a fine and delicious cream.
Once the mixture is perfectly homogenized, we place the saucepan over low heat, setting the flame to the lowest intensity. Here, we add the lemon zest, which will infuse the cream with a subtle flavor. It is recommended to use a whole piece of zest so that it can be easily removed later. We let the cream simmer over low heat, stirring frequently to prevent sticking to the bottom of the saucepan. When the cream starts to thicken and gently bubble, it's time to turn off the heat or move the saucepan off the stove.
We let the cream cool slightly, but not completely, then add the two tablespoons of Marsala (or alternative), along with a piece of butter. We mix carefully until the butter is completely melted, enriching the cream with a velvety texture and exquisite taste.
Once the cream is ready, we can pour it into cups or glasses, and presentation is just as important as taste. Whether we choose to serve it in vintage bowls, as the lady in our memories did, or in modern glasses, it is essential to let the cream cool completely before savoring it. This cream should not be too compact, but rather creamy, with a consistency that allows it to be enjoyed with a teaspoon.
The final taste will be refined, where not only the alcohol but also the flavors of eggs and lemon blend perfectly, offering an unforgettable culinary experience. This recipe is ideal for impressing at any festive meal or simply to bring a bit of joy to ordinary days.
