We start the culinary adventure by preparing a delicious poppy seed cake, perfect to be enjoyed alongside a cup of tea or coffee. The first step is to ensure we have all the ingredients at hand and that we have preheated the oven. So, we turn on the oven to 180 degrees Celsius to heat it properly before introducing the cake.

While the oven heats up, we take care of the baking pan. We generously butter a loaf pan, making sure every corner is covered. Then, we line the pan with parchment paper to prevent the cake from sticking and to make it easier to remove after baking.

Now, we start with the dry ingredients. In a large bowl, we mix the freshly sifted flour with salt. This mixture will provide a solid base for the cake, and the salt will enhance the flavors. In another bowl, we focus on the wet ingredients. We beat the soft butter together with the sugar at high speed until the mixture becomes fluffy and airy. This step is essential for achieving a light texture in the cake.

Once we have a fluffy mixture, we add the vanilla extract and continue to mix until well incorporated. Then, we take care of the eggs. We beat them in another bowl for about 7 minutes at high speed until their volume increases significantly. This is an important step, as the aerated eggs will contribute to the rise and final texture of the cake.

Now, with the eggs ready, we gradually add them to the bowl with butter and sugar in 2-3 stages, mixing after each addition to achieve a homogeneous mixture. Then, we start incorporating the flour gradually in 4-5 stages, mixing at low speed to avoid scattering the ingredients. Finally, we add the poppy seeds, which will add a crunchy note and a unique flavor to our cake.

We pour the obtained mixture into the prepared pan, leveling the surface with a spatula to ensure the cake bakes evenly. We place the pan in the preheated oven and bake at 180 degrees Celsius for about 60 minutes. It's important to keep an eye on the cake so that it doesn't burn.

After the baking time has elapsed, we let the cake cool in the pan for 30 minutes. Then, carefully, we remove the cake from the pan and place it on a wire rack to cool completely. At this moment, the inviting aroma of the cake will fill the entire house, and patience will be rewarded with a delicious dessert, perfect for any occasion. Enjoy it with pleasure!
