After we have made the sauce, we transfer it to a pot and simmer it over low heat. It is important to stir occasionally to prevent the sauce from sticking to the bottom of the pot. We let the sauce simmer until it thickens and the flavors intensify, enveloping the entire kitchen in an enticing aroma.
Meanwhile, we turn our attention to the dough. In a large bowl, we combine flour with yeast, salt, and sugar. We gradually add lukewarm water, mixing continuously until we obtain an elastic and homogeneous composition. We knead the dough for about 10 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. We cover the bowl with a clean towel and let the dough rise in a warm place for about 30 minutes until it doubles in volume.
After the dough has risen, we divide it into smaller pieces. We take one piece, and after greasing the tray with a little oil, we roll out the dough into an even layer about 0.5 cm thick. It is recommended to use baking paper to avoid sticking. Over the rolled-out dough, we add a few tablespoons of the previously prepared sauce, spreading it evenly with a spatula. Next comes a generous layer of grated cheese that will melt beautifully in the oven, providing a savory taste.
To add texture and flavor, we place fresh mushrooms, sliced thinly and lightly sautéed in a little olive oil, diced grilled chicken breast, slices of colorful bell pepper, and green or black olives, depending on preferences. Over all these ingredients, we add another layer of grated cheese and a few tablespoons of sauce to ensure a connection between the ingredients.
The prepared tray is placed in the preheated oven at medium temperature and left to bake for 15-20 minutes. During this time, the dough will become fluffy, and the cheese will be melted and golden. Finally, we take the tray out of the oven and let the dish cool for a few minutes before cutting and serving it.
