Total time: 1 hour and 15 minutes
Servings: 6

If you are looking for a pasticcio recipe that combines the classic flavors of Tuscan cuisine with a rich and warm texture, you have come to the right place. This recipe will turn your meal into a true culinary feast, similar to lasagna, but with a Tuscan twist that will captivate you from the first bite.

Ingredients:
- 400 g pasta (preferably penne or rigatoni)
- 300 g ground beef
- 300 g ground pork
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 400 g canned tomatoes (or fresh pureed tomatoes)
- 200 g mozzarella cheese, diced
- 100 g grated Parmesan cheese
- 50 ml extra virgin olive oil
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- Fresh or dried oregano, to preference

Preparation:
1. Start by preparing the pasta. Boil water in a large pot, add salt and then the pasta. Cook according to the package instructions, but one minute less than the recommended time, as they will continue to cook in the oven. Drain and set aside.

2. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onion and bell pepper, sautéing for 5-7 minutes until they become soft and translucent. This is the aromatic base of your dish.

3. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute, being careful not to burn it. Then, add the ground beef and ground pork. Sauté the mixture, stirring frequently, until the meat is well cooked and browned.

4. Add the pureed tomatoes, salt, pepper, and oregano. Allow the mixture to simmer over low heat for 15-20 minutes, so the flavors meld perfectly. Check the taste and adjust the seasoning if necessary.

5. Preheat the oven to 180°C. In a baking dish, layer some pasta, followed by a layer of the meat mixture. Add a few cubes of mozzarella, then repeat the process until you finish the ingredients, ensuring the last layer is pasta covered with the meat sauce and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese.

6. Bake the pasticcio in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until the cheese on top is golden and bubbly.

Serving:
Let the pasticcio cool for 10 minutes before slicing. This time allows the layers to set, making it easier to portion. Serve it with a fresh green salad and a drizzle of high-quality olive oil for an extra burst of flavor.

Variations:
You can adapt the recipe by adding vegetables such as mushrooms, zucchini, or eggplant between the layers of pasta. Also, for an even more intense flavor, try adding some fresh herbs or Italian spices to the meat sauce.

The Tuscan pasticcio is not just a simple recipe, but a dish that will impress any guest. Give it a personal touch by adapting the ingredients to your preferences and enjoy a delicious meal that brings the essence of Tuscany right into your kitchen.
