To prepare a culinary delight that will impress anyone, we start by peeling the potatoes. Choose medium-sized potatoes, as they will boil evenly. After peeling, cut them into cubes of about 2-3 centimeters. This size will ensure quick and even boiling. Place the potato cubes in a large pot with cold water, add a teaspoon of salt, and let them boil over medium heat. The potatoes are ready when they can be easily pierced with a fork, which takes about 15-20 minutes.

Meanwhile, we start dealing with the tuna. Choose tuna canned in olive oil for a richer taste. Drain the tuna well from the oil it was preserved in and place it in a large bowl. Using a fork, mash the tuna until it becomes a smooth paste, without large chunks. This step is important as a fine paste will allow the ingredients to blend better.

Add a tablespoon of Dijon mustard, which will provide a tangy note and enhance the flavors. Then, introduce a tablespoon of mayonnaise, which will add creaminess and improve the texture. Don’t forget to add a pinch of salt to balance the taste. Mix everything with a spatula or a wooden spoon until the ingredients are completely integrated and you achieve a uniform composition.

After the potatoes have boiled, drain them and let them cool slightly. Then, add them to the tuna mixture and carefully combine everything, being careful not to crush the potatoes too much. Transfer the composition to a large plate, shaping it with a spatula to give it the form of a cake. This step is essential to achieve an attractive appearance.

To finish, use the remaining mayonnaise to evenly cover the surface of the tuna cake. This will add an extra layer of flavor and make the dish look more appetizing. Decorate the cake with anchovy fillets and a few capers, which will not only add a splash of color but also a salty and savory taste.

Let the cake chill in the refrigerator for about 30 minutes before serving, so the flavors can blend harmoniously. This dish is ideal for an appetizer at a festive table or for a light dinner. Enjoy it alongside a fresh green salad and a slice of lemon for a perfect contrast of flavors. Bon appétit!
