Crescent Rolls with Turkish Delight (Lenten)
To achieve an unforgettable delicacy, I suggest you carefully follow the steps of this recipe, which transforms simple ingredients into a savory dessert. Start by mixing the liquid ingredients, such as milk and eggs, ensuring they are well integrated. Once you have made this mixture, carefully pour it into the bread machine. Then, cautiously add the flour so that it completely covers the liquid underneath. Continuing this process involves adding sugar, lemon and orange zest, a pinch of salt, and, of course, the yeast. Start the machine on the dough program and let it work its magic.
It is important to closely observe the dough when the machine starts mixing the ingredients. If you notice that the dough is too soft and sticks to the walls of the container, do not hesitate to add flour a little at a time until the consistency becomes suitable. If the dough becomes too hard, add a splash of oil to improve it. This adjustment is essential, especially depending on the type of flour used and the weather conditions, which can influence the texture of the dough.
After the machine completes the rising program, the dough should be divided into four pieces. If you choose to knead by hand, make sure the dough is silky and slightly oily, but not too hard. Let it rise in a warm place away from drafts for about an hour or an hour and a half, until it doubles in volume.
Meanwhile, preheat the oven to the temperature specified in the recipe. Once the dough has risen, roll each piece into a round sheet and cut it into 8 equal triangles using a sharp knife. Here comes the delicious part: place slices of rahat or chocolate on the large side of the triangle. Roll the dough from the large base to the tip, thus forming the crescents. Carefully place them on the greased tray, leaving space between them to bake evenly.
Bake the crescents in the preheated oven at 180°C (350°F) for 10-15 minutes or until they become golden. Once you take them out, it is essential to lift them immediately off the tray and place them on a platter. For a perfect finish, dust them with powdered sugar or vanilla sugar while they are still warm. Enjoy these delights with your loved ones, turning each bite into a special moment!
