To prepare a delicacy of plum dumplings, start by pouring the contents of a box of "instant dumplings" into a large bowl. Add cold water, continuously mixing with a wooden spoon. This step is essential for achieving a homogeneous consistency of the dough. In another bowl, beat an egg with a tablespoon of sugar and your preferred essences, such as vanilla or rum, until the mixture becomes frothy. Add the egg and sugar mixture to the flour from the box, continuing to mix. Let the mixture rehydrate for 4-5 minutes.

After this time, the dough will be softer and you need to knead it well. If you notice it is too soft, do not hesitate to add 1-2 tablespoons of semolina, as I did. This will help achieve a fluffier texture that is easier to shape. Once the dough is ready, take a portion of it and shape small balls, making sure they are large enough to enclose the plum halves inside.

Choose the plums, ensuring they are ripe but firm. Cut them in half and remove the pits. You can also add jam, fruit spread, or other delicious fillings, depending on your preferences. Place the plum halves or desired filling in the center of each dough ball and seal them well, forming round dumplings.

Prepare a large pot of boiling water, adding a teaspoon of salt to enhance the flavor of the dumplings. When the water is boiling well, carefully introduce the dumplings into the water. Boil them for 5-10 minutes, or until they gently rise to the surface of the water. This is an indication that they are ready. Use a slotted spoon to remove them from the water and drain them well.

To add extra flavor, toss the dumplings in a mixture of toasted breadcrumbs with sugar, or you can opt for a combination of ground nuts and sugar, depending on your preferences. This last step will give the dumplings a crispy texture and a sweet taste, perfect for serving warm. You can enjoy the dumplings with a vanilla sauce or plain, to savor the delicious aroma of the plums. These dumplings are ideal for a comforting dessert that will bring smiles to the faces of your loved ones.

 Ingredients: -1 box of dumpling powder, instant (150g) -180 ml water -1 whole egg -1 teaspoon sugar (I added 1 tablespoon) -essences to taste (rum, vanilla, cinnamon) - I added vanilla and cinnamon -12-14 pieces of plums, pitted (I used frozen ones, thawed, drained well, coated in a little flour and sprinkled with cinnamon) -1-2 tablespoons semolina (if needed) -salt -breadcrumbs and sugar to coat the boiled dumplings (I coated some with ground nuts mixed with sugar)
